SPORTEC COVID RESTRICTIONS POLICY
Thank you in your cooperation over the last few days in respect to not stopping on the highway to drop pupils off and collecting pupils at the end of the day. We are aware of the problems and have reorganised our traffic management policy (this is available on the school website) to open the parent/pupil drop off lane. This is accessed just after the pedestrian crossing and facilitates 21 spaces. You will leave the drop off zone by the staff entrance/exit. Due to this area being a temporary bus bay (until September), the morning exit will be to turn left and exit via the silver gates. In the afternoon the exit will be to turn right and join directly onto the main road. There will be a member of staff present to direct you out, both morning and afternoon.
This should resolve the problem of stopping on the road and free up the Ridgewood Gardens and Greenwood Drive congestion.
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are currently in the middle of our very exciting move to our new school. Here are the start and end of day entrance arrangements.
Just a reminder that lesson begin at 8.30am and pupils finish at 2.45pm (there will be no early finish after half term). Pupils will return to school on Wednesday June 9th as we have two inset days on the 7th and 8th of June.
The start of the path to the pupil entrance is located directly opposite the pedestrian crossing (on the same side as the school). If pupils are arriving on the opposite side of the road to the school, they can safely cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. Pupils have all visited the site last week to familiarise themselves with the arrangements and the pathway.
Pupils who arrive/leave on the school bus
Pupils will arrive and leave from the temporary bus bay on the new school site. This is in the new main staff car park. We have strict traffic management in this area, whilst it is a temporary measure. Parents will not be allowed access into the staff car park area. The new bus bay will be ready for September and an update will be available, ready for the start of the new school year.
Parent/Pupil drop off
The parent drop off and pick up area will not be open until September. Drop of and pick up will be where you currently drop your child to school, with the exception of the bus bay/layby due to building work on the bottom site. If you drop off or pick up in Ridgewood Gardens or Greenwood Drive, we kindly ask you to be considerate to the residents do not obstruct residential driveways.
If your child is walking to school, they can find the pupil entrance directly opposite the pedestrian crossing. If pupils are walking on the opposite side of the road to the school, they can safely cross the road at the crossing.
Dear Parent /Guardian,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our parents and pupils for the support, understanding and cooperation that you have shown during what has once again been a difficult year so far.
We are very excited to start the next half term in our brand new school and we would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our uniform policy. At Cefn Saeson, we believe that school uniform is an integral part of the ethos adopted by the school. From September pupils will be able wear our new school uniform, however, next year (2021/2020) pupils can still wear their current uniform.
Please can you ensure that pupils are wearing the correct uniform after half term. The guidance is explained below.
School trousers must be black and tailored. We permit various styles, and a slim leg is acceptable, though skinny jeans, trousers containing rivets/studs. These trousers must be accompanied by plain black, leather type material (not canvas), flat shoes or trainers. Please note that trainers must be black leather and have no coloured markings on them. If pupils are wearing their PE kit to school on the days that they have PE lessons, they must be wearing black leggings or shorts accompanied with the Cefn Saeson PE Tshirt/jumper.
We allow a single set of stud earrings to be worn. No facial piercings of any nature are allowed. Failure to remove piercings will result in the jewellery being confiscated. It is for this reason that we advise that all new piercings be done at the beginning of the summer holidays so they will be fully healed on their return to school. No rings, necklaces or bracelets are allowed. Nails must be maintained at a short length due to health and safety regulations for P.E and practical subjects such as Food Tech and Science.
We would also like to remind parents and pupils that we are a mobile phone free school. This means that pupils must turn off their phones and place them into bags as they enter the school and may only use them after leaving school premises. Phones will be confiscated by staff should the phone be seen. If a phone is confiscated on three occasions parents will be required to pick up the phone from school. Should you need to contact your child during the school day please ring the school office and they facilitate this.
Our main parent school communication is the ‘Parent App’ we encourage our parents to download this app in order to receive recent and up to date information from the school regarding your child. Once you have done this, you will need to contact the school in order to receive your invitation code.
Finally, we would like to wish you a safe and pleasant half term, and look forward to seeing you all in our new school on Wednesday 9th June.
Mrs Sian Humphries – Head of Upper School Mrs Victoria Anderson – Head of Lower School.
